If the optics fog up, this normally means the premature end of an otherwise successful astronomy session. Heater bands reduce the risk of dew on the lens or on the corrector plate by slightly heating the front lens of your telescope just slightly above the surrounding air temperature which prevents the dew settling on the lens.
A heater controller is also required for these heater bands which allows you to regulate the temperature and therefore achieve an optimal result with a minimum amount of power. You can also combine the heating sleeves with dew shields to further protect your lens or corrector plate from dew formation.
