The big advantage of a dew shield is that the dew shield not only further helps protect your lens from dew and frost, but also reduces stray light entering the telescope.
These aluminum dew shields fit perfectly on Celestron 6", 8", 9.25", 11", and 14" telescopes. - Please select the correct size option before purchasing.
The outer surface of the dew shield is a solid aluminum cylinder that won't deform or bend. Inside, the velvet lining absorbs stray light and moisture, ensuring optimal contrast for both observing and astrophotography. Secure the dew shield to your telescope using the two adjustable clips for a perfect fit. The dust cover is also made of lightweight and durable aluminum. When not in use, simply place the cover on the dew shield to protect the Schmidt corrector plate from dust and pollen. With the dust cover in place, you can also quickly and easily take dark frames for astrophotography.
If you're an Astrophotographer using a Schmidt-Cassegrain or EdgeHD telescope with a Fastar/Hyperstar attachment, or with a RASA, you're probably familiar with the problem of cables dangling from the dew shield. The integrated cable management system in the base of the dew shield helps you keep your wiring organised. This opening allows you to keep the necessary cables (including those for the Celestron dew protection heating rings) contained without letting light into the system. Additionally, there are cutouts for prism rails on the top and bottom of the telescope, ensuring the dew shield fits any configuration.
