This lens focal reducer shortens the focal length of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes by a factor of 0.63. The f/ratio changes by the same amount, from 1:10 to 1:6.3. This results in a significantly larger field of view and exposure times that are three times shorter than without the reducer.
The optical correction system of this Reducer/Corrector flattens the slightly curved field of view of all Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, providing a fully corrected, vignetting-free "richfield" field of view with a diameter of 24mm.
This Reducer / Corrector is suitable for the following Celestron Telescopes and changes the Focal length and f/ratios as follows:
- C5 from 1250 to 788mm/ f6.3
- C6 from 1500 to 945mm/ f6.3
- C8 from 2000 to 1260mm/ f6.3
- C9.25 from 2350 to 1480mm/ f6.3
- C11 from 2800 to 1764mm/ f6.3
- C14 from 3910 to 2457mm/ f7.3
The Celestron Focal Reducer can also be used for visual purposes. It features the Celestron SC thread on both sides and screws directly onto the telescope tube. It can also be used in combination with the Radial Guider for photography and for CCD cameras.
The reducer weighs just 0.11kg and has a 2" internal thread.
