The RASA 11 V1 was the first RASA telescope developed by Celestron and designed with a Feathertouch fine focuser. The subsequent RASA 8 and RASA 36 systems received an even more advanced, completely backlash-free focusing system. Now, Celestron has followed suit with the RASA 11 V2 , offering this newly developed focusing mechanism as well. This is due to the fact that all RASA lenses – contrary to initial concerns – have proven to be extremely temperature-stable. Refocusing between exposures has been, and continues to be, almost never necessary.

The focusing system, now available in all RASA optics, is ultra-stable and enables simple, precise, and stable focusing even without additional reduction gearing. The complete absence of mirror movement also eliminates the need for mirror lock-up mechanisms – making all RASA optics fully remote-compatible. Now, the RASA 11 V2 is fully compatible with the Celestron Focusing Motor without any modifications, making it ideal for remote observatories.

The Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt astrograph (11" RASA V2) makes it very easy to create impressive astrophotographs with modern DSLR or astronomical CCD cameras. The fast f/2.2 system with its wide field of view offers two major advantages over classic f/10 photography: much shorter exposure times and therefore less susceptibility to tracking errors. This allows you to obtain better images in less time and often even forego an autoguider.

Today, with large CCD sensors, the 11" RASA V2 Schmidt Astrograph offers a full 43.3mm image circle, allowing you to capture pinpoint stars even on large sensors – up to a 52mm diagonal is usable. This large illuminated image circle, combined with a focal length of just 620mm, makes it the perfect instrument for photographing large regions of the sky and extended objects. Among other things, you can create mosaic images of the entire sky or hunt for variable stars, supernovae, or comets.

Optical performance:
The 11" Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph V2 features an optical system with a four-element corrector using rare-earth glass to suppress chromatic aberrations and other aberrations such as coma and field curvature. Never before has an astrograph in this price range delivered this level of optical quality and spot size across the entire field of view. The design also results in very low vignetting.

RASA 11 V2 Enhanced with a new ultra-stable focusing system:
The 11" RASA V2 uses the new Ultra Stable Focusing System (USFS). At the heart of this system is a precision ball bearing. This bearing minimizes focus drift or other unwanted movements of the primary mirror, enabling easy and stable focusing. The USFS is also compatible with the optional Celestron Focusing Motor. Focusing is easier, more accurate, and more stable than ever before. The key to this ultra-stable focusing system lies in two sets of precision bearings, which are precisely aligned and tested during assembly to achieve optimal results.

Other features:
A 12V fan shortens the cooling time and ensures ideal airflow through the tube and the dust-protected ventilation openings.

The Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph was developed as a complete system for astrophotography and delivers the best results with DSLR and astronomical CCD cameras. Every element, down to the thickness of the glass in the fully multi-coated optical window or optional filters, has been carefully considered and perfectly matched to every component of the system.

The CGE dovetail prism rail on the top of the tube offers the possibility of attaching further optional accessories such as a guiding telescope.
