The ASI462MC is the latest color planetary camera from ZWO, which uses the 12-bit ADC sensor Sony IMX462 in 1/2.8" format. The pixel size of 2.9 um allows a depth of 11.2 ke- with a total of 2.1 MPixels.
The camera is particularly powerful in infrared which when used with an IR Pass filter offers superior image quality and reduces the effects of seeing conditions. With its high sensitivity, extremely low readout noise and high frame rate, this camera will provide great performance for planetary, lunar and solar photography.
Some of its unique features include:
- Excellent for planetary photography - The extremely high frame rates make it an excellent camera for 'Lucky Imaging' planetary photography.
- Especially sensitive in IR range
- Its high frame rate make it ideal for Solar imaging (with suitable filters).
- Deep-sky photography (although the camera is uncooled, the CMOS sensor offers good noise performance making it possible for use with many deep sky objects)
- Can be used for Autoguiding
