This high-quality Professional level telescope includes large 200mm Cassegrain mirror optics which are optimized for Astrophotography. The telescope is manufactured in Japan and impresses with its excellent workmanship, sharpness, and contrast performance. The advantage of this telescope also lies in its short, open design and its low weight. Thus, the optics cool down faster than a closed SCT system.

The VISAC primary mirror (= Vixen Sixth-Order Aspheric Cassegrain) is specially designed for astrophotography and delivers a completely flat and color-true image across the entire field of view. Spherical aberration, coma, and field curvature are no longer an issue for these optics. The reason for this is the three-lens field corrector in front of the convex secondary mirror.

Although the telescope is optimized for astrophotography, it can of course also be used for visual observation too. A special coating technique provides the optimal mirror surface for observing and photographing deep-sky objects. It allows for controlled coating and individually corrects for small errors on the mirrors which can occur during production. You will be amazed when you observe the moon's surface with its craters or Saturn with its complex ring system. On Jupiter, on a good night, many smaller details in the cloud bands will also be visible, as well as the Great Red Spot on the planet. On moonless nights, you can observe many galaxies and nebula visible in the night sky from very dark sky locations. Even brighter globular clusters can be easily resolved into individual stars.

This telescope set which is "Made in Japan" simply leaves no wishes unfulfilled. The large 60mm eyepiece focus tube allows for the attachment of heavy cameras without tilting. In addition, the supplied diagonal mirror enables comfortable observation even in difficult observing positions and also offers a T2 thread for connecting directly to a DSLR camera. The carrying handle attached to the tube clamps ensures safe transport of the telescope. The sturdy metal tripod allows for a vibration-free setup of the telescope and mount even in windy weather.

The SXD2WL mount is simply operated via a Wifi module with a smartphone or tablet. For user-friendly control of the mount, the free STAR BOOK Wireless app is available. This allows you to use practical functions of celestial navigation such as automatic GoTo swivelling to specific celestial objects very easily via your smartphone or tablet. As the power consumption of the conventional LCD screen (STAR BOOK TEN) is eliminated, the power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%. This enables astronomical observations and astrophotography over longer periods.

By tapping the desired celestial object from a list, it automatically swivels into the telescope's field of view and tracking begins. An existing STAR BOOK TEN control can also be used on this mount without any problems. Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the flagship model, the AXD mount, the SXD2WL brings a new standard of performance and precision to the Vixen mount family.

The axis cross of the mount has a photographic carrying capacity of 15kg while weighing only 9.2kg, making it excellent for mobile observations. Moreover, the motors located in the lower part of the mount also serve as counterweights. This means the mount requires fewer weights for balancing.

Details of the SXD2 Mount:

Precision stepper motors and Micro-Step Motion Control System
The heart of the SXD2 are the precision stepper motors, offering better performance and response than previous models. The Micro-Step Motion Control System is noted for its powerful yet very quiet driving characteristics, suitable for both fine movements and rapid swivelling.

Built-in bearings.
The bearings of the RA and DEC axes and the worm shafts have been significantly improved to reduce the load on the motors. As a result, the motors move much more quietly than in previous models.

High-precision worm gears.
Advanced manufacturing technologies have eliminated errors in worm gears. The edges of both the worms and worm gears are exceptionally smooth, allowing very precise tracking.

Declination axis as counterweight.
The massive motor units are built into the lower part of the declination axis, lowering the center of gravity of the SXD2 just below the intersection point of the RA and DEC axes. This reduces the need for additional counterweights.

Latitude adjustment.
The latitude is adjustable between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium, and low latitudes); latitude scale in 2-degree steps; fine adjustment with a tangent screw head, about 0.8 degrees per turn.

Built-in PFL-II Polar Finder with Illumination.
The built-in 5x20 mm polar finder with a 10° field of view features a 3-star alignment system. This eliminates the tedious setting of date and time. The illuminated reticle with variable brightness and automatic shutoff is adjustable in 8 steps and illuminated in red. The alignment accuracy is 3 arc minutes.

Details of the Wireless Module.
The Vixen Wifi Adapter for EQ mounts enables you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet. With the STAR BOOK Wireless smartphone app (free), celestial navigation is simple and wireless. The app instantly transforms your mobile device into a control for the equatorial mount. The reaction delay (or time lag) of the mount, a major disadvantage of other wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable to a fully wired version.

Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN control
The STAR BOOK Wireless App is set up similarly to the STAR BOOK TEN control. Depending on the star chart setting, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Tap a celestial object in the list and start the GoTo. The mount will now automatically move to this target and bring it into the field of view of the telescope. All popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are retained.

Convenient operation.
While looking through the telescope, you operate the mount by swiping on the star chart in the app. Since there are no buttons, you simply glide your finger across the star chart to easily operate the mount.

Extensive astronomical data included.
This includes data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, as well as the sun, moon, planets, comets, and dwarf planets.

High-precision alignment.
Alignment on one or two stars already provides a fairly accurate positioning of the mount. Alignment on three or more stars allows for extremely precise alignment of the mount for high magnifications. The objects are then positioned exactly and centrally in the field of view of your telescope. The alignment information is stored and can also be retained when the device is turned off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after an observation, without moving it, you can start the next observation with the same settings.

Individual adjustment options.
As with the STAR BOOK TEN control, the app offers various individual settings such as gear play compensation, red night mode, autoguider, variable GoTo speed, and LED brightness. You can also set the time of reversal of the objective tube (Meridian Flip) according to your preference. Even if the object moves south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from reversing.

Important Information.
Not usable on old SX mounts with the old blue Star Book
